The DPPF is proud to announce its 2022 group of grant and mentorship recipients! These seven emerging professional photographers represent the top 2.5% of entrants from a large field representing 35 countries. They were chosen by a panel of seven judges from the DPPF’s Advisory Board.

Misper is a freelance photographer based in Accra, Ghana.

 

Jeff Dean just completed a fellowship as this year’s Military Veterans in Journalism Fellow at NPR. He also received a mentorship with photographer Jennifer Pottheiser.

 

Ben is based in Buffalo, working as a Team Photographer for the Buffalo Bills, Sabres, and Bandits. He also received a mentorship with photographer Tom Pennington.

 

Shae is a San Jose, CA, based photographer recently hired at The Mercury News. She also received a mentorship with photographer Elsa Garrison.

 

Eakin is a freelance photographer based in North Carolina.

 

Julia is a self-taught French photographer with a focus on ice and climbing.

 

Wei-Chih is an underwater photographer and free-diving instructor based in Taiwan.

 

Photographers will be able to apply for consideration for next year’s grants and mentorships in March 2023.
