Julia is a self-taught French photographer with a focus on ice and climbing. She has also worked as a nurse at the École Nationale de Ski et d’Alpinisme (ENSA) in Chamonix. When she was awarded a DPPF grant in 2022, Julia had recently covered the iF3 Festival Ice Climbing event and the Alpine Arc’teryx Académy, teaching mountain photography. She has shot for the brand Lagoped and has also worked with RAB and Blue Ice.⁠


Julia shares back stories for two of the photographers in her grant-winning portfolio.

Ice Climbing World Cup – Champagny en Vanoise, France. The climber is Louna Ladevant. He was leading the route on the finals. At this moment, he won the World Cup and the overall of the season.

This picture was taken on “Moulin” on the Mer de Glace glacier – Chamonix, France. The climber is Jeff Mercier, one of the world’s best ice climbers. We spent two days exploring the inside of the glacier.
