A 2023 DPPF grant recipient, Tyler is working as a photographer for Boise State Athletics and is expected to graduate in 2024. He has experience in both commercial editorial photography and photojournalism. Tyler also received a DPPF mentorship.

Tyler shares back stories of two photographs from his grant-winning portfolio.

This photo was captured during the first Boise State Football game of the 2023 season versus University of Washington in Seattle. Ashton Jeanty stiff arms a Washington player in the red zone, resulting in a touchdown. It was exciting to open up my fourth year covering the team at such an iconic stadium in front of an incredible crowd. This image was taken while I was walking to another shooting location, and I happened to be in the right spot to capture this play. Boise State has made significant investments in visual storytelling over the past four years, and I am grateful for the opportunity to learn more about storytelling each week with the team.

This photo was taken following a home victory against San Diego State. The sold out arena flooded the court after the win, and players celebrated in the locker room. Max Rice, center, is showered with water after contributing 26 points to the victory. Boise State versus SDSU was an exciting game with a ton of visual variety. It was an intense matchup with an emotional ending and was one of my favorite nights from time as a photographer and student. Boise State Basketball has been great with granting photographers access and has built a compelling storyline that I have enjoyed following over the past three years.

The DPPF is thrilled to be able to further Tyler’s promising career.
