The Doug Pensinger Photography Fund is proud to announce its 2022 group of grant and mentorship recipients!
Misper Apawu

$5,000 Grant
Misper is a freelance photographer based in Accra, Ghana. She graduated from the University of Cape Coast with a BSc in Marketing but later followed her zeal to tell stories with images. Her work focuses on women and sports.
Jeff Dean

$5,000 Grant & Mentorship Recipient
In 2022, Jeff had just completed a fellowship as a Military Veterans in Journalism Fellow at NPR. He received degrees in journalism from the University of Oregon and interned with the Cincinnati Enquirer.
Ben Green

$5,000 Grant & Mentorship Recipient
As of 2022, Ben was based in Buffalo, working as a Team Photographer for the Buffalo Bills, Sabres, and Bandits as a part of Pegula Sports & Entertainment. He graduated from the University of Oregon in 2019.
Shae Hammond

$5,000 Grant & Mentorship Recipient
As of 2022, Shae was a San Jose, CA, based photographer recently hired at The Mercury News. After graduating from California State University, Northridge, she interned for CalMatters and the Santa Clarita Valley Signal.
Eakin Howard

$5,000 Grant
In 2022, Eakin was a recent graduate of Rochester Institute of Technology, Eakin is currently a freelance photographer in North Carolina. He has shot for Getty Images, the Los Angeles Times, NASCAR, and the World Curling Federation.
Julia Roger-Veyer

$5,000 Grant
Julia is a self-taught French photographer with a focus on ice and climbing. She is an outdoor and mountain photographer, and she also worked as a nurse at the École Nationale de Ski et d’Alpinisme (ENSA) in Chamonix.
WeiChih Wang

$5,000 Grant
Wei-Chih is an underwater photographer based on Green Island on the east coast of Taiwan. He is a former free-diving instructor, and he takes photos within the timespan of one breath.
